EDITORIAL More news from virtual reality by Christine K. Zarb
Hello and welcome to the second issue of VRmag. We’re always on the move and, as you can see, this month we’ve had a bit of a face lift — let us know what you think of our new format. Also, thanks to all of you who have written in; we were excited to receive such a warm response and read your comments and suggestions with great interest!
For those of you who have just tuned in, VRmag is an interactive publication that centers around events of international interest and geographical locations around the globe. To enhance your virtual explorations, all articles are supported by interactive panoramic images, audio and video files, as well as QuickTime VR technology such as QTVR Objects and cubic VRs.
In our last issue we brought you the Geneva International Motor Show. In this number, we go to the Salone del Mobile in Milan. If you’d like a virtual tour, check out VRWAY’s Virtual Site Extention on the Abitare home page: www.abitare.it .
In every issue the V-artist section focuses on topics relevant to the VR community. In this issue we talk to Eric Poppleton and Alberto Veronese, both talented and accomplished artists who use VR technology. Poppleton talks to us about Panoscan™ and QTVR — to see his work, take a look at our Cubic VR gallery. And don’t miss the feature about our exclusive shoot in the Vatican. On the other hand, Alberto Veronese demonstrates an entirely different approach to digital technology in our story, A Night in New York.
Before I wrap it up, I’d like to remind you that VRmag is an interactive space in which you can connect with the rest of the world. So don’t be shy: if you have any work you’d like to have published... submit it! Like our C.E.O. said: “Technology is merely a tool for producing art.” You never know, our next feature could be about you.
We hope you enjoy our second issue and look forward to receiving your comments. So keep writing, Christine K. Zarb Senior Editor | | | | The purpose of this banner is to raise funds for a new VR community project VRMag will launch in a few months. | |
