RISTORANTE LA PINTA
by Karen Guthry

There’s no better place to savor the fishermen’s daily catch than on Ristorante La Pinta’s terrace, overlooking the clear waters of the Argentario. Located in Porto Ercole, the family-run business offers simple, traditional fare prepared with fresh seasonal ingredients. A selection of local and Italian wines complements the dishes.

The friendly service and the live piano music, make for a classy candlelight dinner. Plus, there’s nothing like a delicious meal accompanied by good wine and a lovely view to ease the senses. Since the new management of Massimo and Carla, La Pinta has enjoyed much popularity with VIPs. Barbara Streisand and Rod Steward are among the string of famous patrons.

La Pinta’s uniqueness lies in the quality of the produce and the care with which the food is processed. Each dish is prepared using biological ingredients and traditional cooking methods. The menu varies daily in accordance with what seafood is available.

Boasting a vast repertoire of fish and shellfish, the restaurant owes its reputation to the chef’s artistry in seafood dishes. The most famous, Tagliolini Alla Caravaggio, consists of noodles served with lobster and cherry tomatoes.

For a four-course meal, vines excluded, expect to pay around 200’000 Lira. The restaurant accepts all business cards and remains open throughout the summer months.
