CARDADA
Get a 360 degree view of southern Switzerland
by Christine K. Zarb

There is a spot in the mountainous region above Lake Maggiore in Southern Switzerland, where the view stretches at 360 degrees over the valleys and hills. From here, in the Southern Alps just a short funicular trip above the city of Locarno, you can see the Islands of Brissago, the villages clustered along the lake’s edge, and all the way across to the Italian border.

At Cardada (1340 m of altitude), one can finally relax, immersing oneself in nature, going on solitary walks or simply enjoying the stunning views form the state-of-the-art lookouts by architect P. Bürgi.

While in summer Cardada offers a great number of walking tracks – you can go to the Alp of Madone (2039 m of altitude), in winter it offers great skiing facilities. And with its selection of traditional restaurants, you’ll be sure to leave deliciously sated by the gastronomy and the clean mountain air.
