WTC A TRIBUTE IN LIGHT The Tribute in Light memorial is preserved in a beautiful 360-degree panorama. by Michelle Bienias I visited Ground Zero in early March, and touched the names of my two friends on the memorial wall - Ralph Gerhardt and David Barkway. At the time, the site was substantially cleared of all material and looked like nothing more than a huge construction zone. Yet there was an almost visceral sense of all the souls lost that day, like a cloud hovering above. I stood with hundreds of others on the viewing platform, in near total silence. Shortly thereafter, a memorial was erected to mark the six-month anniversary of the attacks. Tribute in Light was 616,000 watts of light, pointing upwards from a site just north of Ground Zero, which shone each night from March 11th to April 13th. I loved its simplicity – two twin beams of light, reaching up into the sky like some interstellar pathway for all the lost souls to travel from earth to the heavens. That’s why I was happy to receive a link to Jook Leung’s website, 360vr.com, where he has captured this memorial in a beautiful 360-degree panorama. Congratulations to Jook Leung, who recently won a presitgious award from Fuji for this panorama. The Fuji Masterpiece Awardis the highest honor that any photographic manufacturer awards for photography without regard to the type of products used to create the image.
