THE CARLI OLIVE MUSEUM USING VR TOURS
The museum dedicated to olives and olive oil.

We’re always pleased when we find companies using VRs to promote their services and, in some cases, are quite surprised to discover who is using them. In this case, it’s a wonderfully informative Olive Museum in northern Italy.
The Museo dell’Olivo, was created by the Carli family, the same family who in 1911 founded Fratelli Carli, now the best selling olive oil in Italy. The museum is located in the city of Imperia on the Ligurian Riviera, close to the popular tourist resort of San Remo and one of the most important Mediterranean oil production areas.
The museum is comprised of 18 rooms, a library, cafeteria and conference facilities. The exhibits were collected over decades by the family and are hosted in a liberty-style building that was built in the 1920s as the company headquarters. The story of olive oil production is told in a series of walk through halls, together with slide and video projections, and priceless exhibits and rare historical records. A series of 18 VRs captures these rooms and exhibits.
Visitors in the production months of December through March can watch the actual processing, in the adjacent plant, of olives harvested in nearby groves. Fratelli Carli produces extra virgin olive oil and pure olive oil, both with acidity below 0.3%, and has sold directly to Italian consumers for 3 generations via mail order and home delivery, and now exports to the U.S. and Canada.
