Greg Downing’s Garfield Trailer is finally out! “The shot I spent 2-3 months of my life working on was the first shot where you see Garfield dancing with Odie,” says Downing. There are three elements to this type of work: the live-action plate of the inside of the house, shot with traditional film; Odie (a real dog), shot dancing in front of a blue screen; and the 3D, computer-generated Garfield. Downing’s part was to light Garfield so he looks as though he were really in the living room.

The Petra Exhibit opened at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, featuring a Surround movie generated from Greg Downing’s panoramas of Petra. The Exhibit spans across three large projections screens, which you can see in the background in this image (the exhibition runs until July 6th and then will travel the U.S. for the next five years).

Greg Downing will also be speaking at the 3D Festival in Copenhagen next May.

Kevin Kratzke, of Kekus Digital, has posted a new version of the OS X Panotools plug-ins. Changes include: full 16 bit support in all the plug-ins; OS X Graphic Converter compatible; all plug-ins are now fully actionable for easy batch processing; loadable databases in LensFix.

Patrick Cheatham, of CheathamLane, has produced a virtual tour of downtown San Francisco so that MacWorld Expo attendees can orient themselves and get a flavor for the SOMA area around the Moscone Center. It will soon to be available on the iqtvra.org website.

During MWSF, Loren Price and other IQTVRA members will be giving demos and creating an almost-live online gallery of panoramas from the tradeshow floor -- with images from members and the general shutterbug/attendee public. The Macworld Conference and Expo will be held in San Francisco at the Moscone Center from the 5th to the 9th of January, 2004
