Located in the beautiful Lake Como region of northern Italy, the Hotel Castello di Carimate stands in the Piazza Castello, in the heart of an elegant village, lying in the surroundings of a breathtaking park that borders the superb and challenging 18-Hole Carimate Golf Course. Fifty-eight rooms were created, each with its own unique personality and flair. Beautiful frescos decorate the ground floor rooms, which can be used for banquets and meetings.

History
The Castle has a long and interesting history dating back to 1149 A.D. Destroyed during the 13th century during the war between Milan and Como, the Castle was reconstructed in 1345 by the Visconti family. Famous visitors include Bianca Maria Sforza, who belonged to a very powerful Lombard family and in 1493 was on her way to Germany to wed, accompanied by Ludovico il Moro and Beatrice d’Este. In 1496, Emperor Massimilano I liked the Castle so much that he decided to stay for seven days, resting and hunting deer in the surrounding forests. The Castle belonged to the Visconti-Aicardi family until Ludovico Visconti died without legal heirs in 1795: thus the Castle and all its treasures became Government property and were sold by the local authorities to the Arnaboldi family of Como, who held it until the 20th century. A foreign real-estate developer bought the Castle in 1987 and reconstruction started over again, eventually turning the Castle into a 4 Star hotel with 58 rooms, fully equipped for banquets and meetings. The Hotel Castello di Carimate opened at the end of 1990, several months after due time.
