What : The French ski resort of Val Thorens. The view in Carlson’s panorama is from Cime de Caron (3200m), one of the highest peaks in the Val Thorens area, and is outstanding with the sun above and clouds below on a crisp, clear day.

The treeless village of Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in the European Alps with a base elevation of 2300m; the challenging skiing takes place nearly 1000m higher. The 54 groomed slopes run for 140 km and there’s lots of off-piste skiing as well. Val Thorens has 34 ski lifts but offers guests 600 km of marked trails and 198 lifts in the Three Valleys.
