VIRTUAL TOUR OF MILAN’S CAFFE LETTERARIO
by M. Bienias

Il Caffé Letterario is much more than just a Café; it’s a crossroad that is also a fascinating meeting point in the heart of the city: a bright area of Via Solferino which runs into Brera; the silence of Via Marsala & the bustling pedestrian area of Garibaldi; the tree-lined end of Via San Marco which leads into the 'Bastioni.'
This is where you will find the Caffé Letterario. A place full of life & color, where you will feel "at home away from home", with a welcoming & relaxed atmosphere, where you can leave stress behind & enjoy an old-fashioned hot chocolate, or rediscover the tradition of a cup of tea, with 15 blends to choose from.

At the Caffé Letterario you can skim through a variety of books scattered over the tables, take them away to read at leisure & return them, together with your comments to be circulated. You are also invited to leave your own books for circulation, to be recollected with the comments of others who have read them; all in the spirit of exchanging culture & emotions that form part of our philosophy.

Musical concerts, photograph & painting exhibitions, editorial presentations, theme events dedicated to the love of good food, literature, cinema & the theatre are the affectionate drivers of the Café & the catalyst for a winning evening.

LET'S NOT FORGET GOOD FOOD!

Lunch: From 12:00 p.m to 2:30 p.m
For lunchtime we offer a one-course meal, with particular attention to vegetarian diets, often considered boring & monotonous, but which for us provide a real test of excellent flavors.
For those who like to drink tea with their lunch we offer a wide range of combinations: white Pau Mu Tan tea with smoked tuna; Gunpowder Special green tea with aubergine mousse; Jasmin Chung Hao or Kimono Melange with fish or wholemeal rice; Rose Jade Oolong with fillet of beef, black Indian Darjeeling with courgette tartlets or chestnut dumplings.

Aperitif: From 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Aperitif time is time for good Italian wines, accompanied by plates of salame & cheese, which form part of our traditional gastronomic excellence.

Dinner: From 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
We offer an intriguing & varied evening menu, with a decidedly interesting wine cellar. We have also planned a series of special evenings which will bring to the table other cultural & gastronomic traditions - starting with Jewish & Arabian dishes - which we look forward to exploring with you.

Good food & good wine will also provide us with the opportunity to revisit famous literary characters (in particular from crime stories) following their cuisine: dipping into the pages to discover the dishes which have enamored us of Maigret, Pepe Carvalho, Arsenio Lupin, Montalbano, Nero Wolfe, Colombo.... But there will also be evenings dedicated to the romantic & sensual cuisine which is emblematic of the recipes of Afrodite , from the book by Isabel Allende.

The Caffe Letterario virtual tour is comprised of two panoramas of the bar and restaurant. The virtual tour is available in three formats – Fullscreen QTVR (recommended for those with a high-speed connection), QTVR medium (recommended for those with a dial-up connection) and Java (recommended for those with QuickTime), and is available in Italian and English.
