DARTMOOR NATIONAL PARK, UK - LANDSCAPE LEAPS

Phototropic Productions recently completed work on a QTVR project featuring 82 hi-res panoramas from all over Dartmoor National Park in the UK. The panos on the interactive CD Landscape Leaps - Dartmoor 360° are linked together with hotspots and the disc features a map and direction pointers, as well as an alphabetical menu of all the pano locations.

Dartmoor National Park, located in the south west of England, features some of the best landscapes and scenery in Great Britain. The National Park is one of twelve within England and Wales and is the most southern in England, lying in the heart of Devon. Three hundred sixty-five square miles of natural beauty and rugged terrain, high moorlands and sheltered valleys, quaint villages with thatched cottages, offer visitors a wide range of outdoor activities. Dartmoor has long been a destination for walkers and cyclers who come to experience the joys of nature, wildlife and local folklore and visitors will find exhibitions, parades, carnivals and fairs going on throughout the year. The CD will appeal to educational groups and those with a particular interest in the geography and biology of the Dartmoor region. The Dartmoor landscape is beautiful but not terribly diverse, meaning that viewers without a particular interest in this region may not find the need to view all 80-plus VRs. Navigation is easy and intuitive and most information is accessible through hotspots. Most of the VRs are cylindrical a fullscreen option would have been nice and the CD could use more text, pictures and video content.
