DISCOVER THE ROUBAIX POOL Water, oeuvres and art déco. by Sandra Petrini Redefining the use of public buildings with a philosophy in mind: what is beautiful has to become impressive.Ignoring the history of the place, one could think that Roubaix was erected to be a museum. The truth - actually - it's quite different and the place once upon a time was a swimming pool. So said, it is for sure strange to think to visit a museum within the walls of what once was a swimming pool...Isn't it? But this swimming pool is an architectural beauty, result of Albert Baert's design and Jean Paul Philoppon's redevelopments, and its art déco style still exudes from every tile: from the principal room to the lockers' one, from the shower room to the bathrooms, where several expositions take place all the year round, with dedicated collections to the applied art and industry. Photographer: Geoffrey Morelle Where: Roubaix, France When: 2006 Why: The pool panorama is part of a virtual tour realized in 2006 for the creation of the museum website. click here to view the Roubaix pool panorama Technical details: The shot has been realized with a Nikon D70 + 10,5 mm Nikkor, and assembled using software Stitcher of Realviz. Geoffrey Morelle is a young and promising advertising photographer, based in Lille, who realizes professional virtual tours since 2001. His principal activity is the creation of virtual tours for real estate, following two aspects: one has to do with his philosphy that the panoramic shot must be a true photographic work, hence involving setting, decoration and lights arrangements; the second one has to do with the requirement of the customers, since the interactive side is developed according to the wishes of the customers, hence involving graphic designers, developers, recording studio...Within all his projects he takes peculiar care of the technical integration of the code. Xml for spi-v but also programation Flash AS3.0 with FlashPanorama. Other activities include photographs of 360° objects, very HD pictures (up to 1'000'000'000 Pixels), and aerial photo's assembling.
