VR blog about Tahiti & French Polynesia
Direct2brain.net has enchanting panoramic views of Paradise on Earth.
by Sandra Petrini

34 years old, living in Tahiti (lucky you, Greg!), Gregory Panayotou wants everybody green with envy, when watching where he lives since 2005. Seriously, after two endless months of rains (with a Summer that began something as five days ago), you should have seen my face, while opening the panoramic images hosted in his blog, direct2brain.net.

The Polynesian islands were inhabited since AD 300 (let's say it straight: somebody understood the meaning of the word "location") and did not share a common story until they fell under French Protectorate in 1889. What is sure, is that they were visited by several explorers such as Ferdinand Magellan, Jacob Roggeveen, Samuel Wallis, Louis Antoine de Bougainville and James Cook, who fell all in love for the places.

The history of the places often crosses its path with shameful acts, such as the nuclear experiments carried on some of its atolls or undergrounds.

But the happenings do not change one thing: Polynesia is a crucible of outstanding beauties, where vacation doesn't end sunbathing on the beaches. So said, if you ever get the change to fly there, flip through Gregory's blog, so to chose some of the unmissable places to visit.

Moreover, remember that there you can swim with dolphins, visit ancient temples such as the Arahurahu Marae on Tahiti or King Pomare's tomb, look for Papeete's colorful morning market and go to the discovery of the several ruins, waterfalls, cliffs and panoramic points which offer an enchanting view of the stunning features of the islands: the only limit to discovery is set by a shortfall in imagination. Finally, if you were looking for a tattoo since years, remember that Polynesia is the right place to get one...

Gregory Panayotou was born from parents working in the computer industry and - for that reason - he started programming before even uttering a word, with 3D studio, Autodesk Animator Pro, Fractint and many others. After his degree in tourism (during which he even planned where he would have moved), he applied to the famous 3D Computer Graphist School Sup Info Com (the school is often awarded at the Imagina 3D film festival of Monaco), where he did the third year, learning all the 3D processes. Back home, he met Stéphane Giner, with whom he founded a web/advert agency ,"PIXEL VISION", with a third guy. Even though they had a lot of work, money wasn't flowing at the same rate and - for that reason - they split. Gregory went back to the 3D industry, working for a videogames company (Runn Software // Carapace Game development) as a 3D computer Graphist, on titles such as Roland Garros 2000 and Roland Garros 2001. Thereafter, he worked for i3M Aerospace Multimedia as a 3D production manager and, with his team, he was responsible for subcontracted simulations for Airbus (A380 mainly), the French military defense, and some missile manufacturer . Meanwhile waiting to relocate to Singapor, his wife was transferred to Tahiti and Gregory decided to quit everything to move there too. Today, he's responsible for the websites of Hersant Media Polynesie and, when off, he spends his time wandering around Polinesia to shot bubbles.
