In July of 2002 Jim organized a group of VR photographers for an informal dinner and it has evolved into the NYC360photo group. The last meeting had a turnout of twenty people. Jim says: "Some people think of VR as an art form, some as a way to sell houses, some like it for its military application; it's great to get them all in one room and hear the ideas flow, and learn from each other." Jim photographs VR professionally on a freelance basis and also freelances as a lighting technician for movies & TV shows. Some of the projects he has worked on are Big Night, Ransom, In & Out, First Wives' Club, School of Rock, The Guiding Light, The Manchurian Candidate, A Beautiful Mind, and many others. Aldo Hoeben Aldo first saw a Quicktime VR tour in 1997. He was immediately wowed with the panoramic scenes as well as the intuitive floorplan navigation etc. He started making his own panoramic tours that same year, but in the years that followed he was disappointed that the development of new concepts in panoramic imaging seemingly stood still. Now that technologies such as 3D hardware accelleration and broadband are starting to become mainstream, Aldo has decided to take matters into his own hands and create his own panoramic viewing engine based on Macromedia's Shockwave technology, taking panoramic imaging a step further. Since Aldo was invited to showcase his work at last year's Summit in DC, he has been developing an all new version of his SPi-V (Shockwave Panoramic Viewer) engine, that is just about ready to be released.
